iJDMTOY Troubleshoot: Stock Socket Different from LED

When you’re installing your new LED bulb, there are several components in the socket that are important to note. You have the actual bulb, the bulb adapter, and the stock socket harness. During the installation process, if the LED bulb does not seem to "fit", make sure that you have removed the appropriate piece in order to make the connection.

Below, you can see the three components (from top to bottom):

-Stock socket harness

Ford Mustang Switchback LED Rear Fog Light

The Ford Mustang has a rich American history that cemented its legacy in the car industry. One thing that the new Ford Mustang does not have is a working rear reflector. Instead, it has a bulb-less reflector that doesn’t have that great of a function. Thankfully, the Ford Mustang is quite an easy car to modify and there are plenty of aftermarket options available, like this Ford Mustang switchback LED Bulb that has tail light and reverse light feature.

How To Tell If Your LED Bulb Can Fit Into a Housing

When it comes to core bulb sizes and their derivatives, it’s good to know that these bulbs can fit into the same housing. These bulbs include:

9005 –> H10 (9145, 9155, 9150, 9140)
H11 –> H8 H9
880 –> 886, 889, 892, 893, 890, 862, 881, 884, 885. 894, 898, 899

Bulbs to the left of the arrow will be able to fit into the housing of their respective core bulbs to the right. This demonstration is based on the 9005 bulb with the H10 core.

The 9005 bulb is a derivative of the core H10 bulb, meaning that bulbs sizes such as the 9005, 9145, 9155, 9150, 9140 can fit into the H10 housing. At first glance, it may appear that the H10 bulb has tabs that cannot fit into the stock housing. Actually, the bulb can still fit into the housing with a little bit of twisting and maneuvering.

LED Daytime Running Lights for the 2013 Volkswagen Jetta GLI

Since LED lights add very sophisticated look to any vehicle, regardless of age, brand, or type, adding LED lights to yours would be a no-brainer. Take for example this new 2013 Volkswagen Jetta GLI that one of our customers brought into our store; we threw on a set of our 18-SMD 5050 LED Daytime Running Lights bulbs in there and it completely changed the look of the vehicle instantly.

There are many questions that come to mind when you replace a light on a European vehicle such as: Are there any error messages? Are there are any flickering issues? Would these interfere with other functions and so on. Fortunately for this particular 2013+ Volkswagen Jetta GLI, there are no error messages or negative side-effects of replacing the daytime running light bulb. We used a standard LED bulb with no resistors or added components to make this happen, what you see in the pictures is just a direct bulb replacement. Please do keep in mind that this was only tested on this specific vehicle and that other vehicles even though they may be the same manufacturer, may throw error messages or cause other issues.

These replacement bulbs seem to suit the car so well that the untrained eye may even think these are factory lights and that this car came off the dealership lot just like this!

Such combination of superb layout, luxury, safety and infotainment equipment is not to be seen everywhere. Do you want to know how this incredibly powerful output is achieved? Well, thanks to the 7.5W Plasma High Power T10 LED bulb, that has a high power LED emitter on top and all around, the lighting output reaches about 500 lumens, which is enough to be noticed from very very far distance. Installation is a piece of cake – completely plug and play – just take out the stock bulb and plug in the new one. Check if all works like a charm. If a bulb doesn’t light up, flip it at 180 degrees and try again. That should do the trick.
