Make Your License Plate Shine With LED Pod Lights

When most people think about how much you can do with a license plate, not a whole lot comes to mind. It’s just a sheet of metal with numbers and letters right? It is well known that your license plate can be used as an identity tool; you can find out a person’s name, address, registration, price history of the car, and so much more. However, creative uses are limited to setting the tags off to the side or set on your dashboard, or adding a frame. Did you know that you can equip your license plate with a high power CREE LED pod light set?

An LED Light Bar Breakthrough in GMCs

Occasionally, we rent GMCs from U-Haul to transport our products because we find their service to be reliable. We can always count on them to provide clean pick-up trucks with no issues. This time around, we discovered an opportunity to test our new LED light bar. The opportunity especially worked out because the GMC model we rented was a Sierra 1500, which was exactly the trim we wanted to test on. And so, we decided to take liberties with our rental truck to install our new behind the grille 150W LED Light Bar for the 2014-up GMC Sierra 1500.

2013 Las Vegas SEMA Coverage: More Products! – Part Four

With the last part of our coverage of the SEMA show and the cool things we saw there, we’ll wrap up with some more modifications that we saw on cars that we also offer on our website. We saw many cars with tinted head and tail lights, a direct fit LED fog light assembly on a Scion FR-S and some multi-color interior lights! While these cars probably did not get them from us, it’s still pretty cool to see these types of products being used and hopefully it’ll give you an idea of what to do on your car.

Vinyl tints are popular because they are easily installed and removed without any damage to the application. There are many colors to choose from, but the most common is the black dark tint which puts a darker shade on the application. If there are any issues with law enforcement or if you just don’t want the darker shade on anymore, you can easily peel it off and you can start off fresh again.

At this year’s SEMA event, there were quite a lot of Scion FR-S and Subaru BR-Z’s that made up a large percentage of the show vehicles inside and outside of the convention center. On this particular Scion FR-S, we saw an LED fog light assembly similar to what we carry lit up. Subtle upgrades such as this change the look of the vehicle quite dramatically.

Last, but not least we saw a car with multi-colored LED interior lights underneath the dash and on the side doors. These lights were automatically cycling through the colors so they were most likely in the “Demo” mode function. These easy to install lights connect directly to the car battery and are controlled at your finger tips with a radio remote control. Since LEDs draw such little power, there are no worries of the lights being in demo mode all day at the show and draining the battery.

That is it for our coverage of SEMA. It is very fortunate of us to live within a reasonable driving distance of such a big event that happens every year in Sin City. We get to see all the creative and head turning builds of the year gathered together in one building. In addition to that, there is huge aftermarket support from automotive retailers and car manufacturers at SEMA. If you ever have a chance to go to SEMA, make sure you take that chance as it will be a memorable experience.

2009 Mercedes C300 is Comfier with Cup Holder LED Mod

The owner of this 2009 Mercedes C300 wanted to light up the cup holder of his car, so we came up with an universal Cup Holder LED mod that will work out for any vehicle. Well, this one is a bit different and not a factory retrofit, but you’ll love the look of LED Cup Holder. Please note this can be done in a few different ways with four different colors /Xenon White, Ultra Blue, Brilliant Red, Emerald Green/ and if you are creative, you can even get multicolored LEDs and put in a switch to control them.

There aren’t many cars with lighting inside the cup holders, but it’s annoying when you can’t see a thing in the car at night. What’s more, you have to feel around for stuff especially inside the cup holder area. This is where iJDMTOY comes – we’ll show you the easiest way to install LED Cup Holder lights on the featured 2009 Mercedes C300.

First, make sure ignition is off, then proceed with figuring out how to pull up the cup holder – in some cases screws hold the cup holder in place, while in others, it is relatively very easy to pull it up. Once you do it, take a good look at the cup holder and decide where you want to place LEDs. In this case we drilled the holes as low as possible to the base of the cup holder to prevent the light from shining over the top and lighting the dash. It’s better you don’t see the LED strips when driving the car, but it’s up to you. Anyway, each 1" LED strip light comes with 3M double-sided tape on the back and 15" long wiring for easy installation, so all you have to do is install wire though the hole, peel the tape and press the strip on the back firmly.

Next up is wiring. In this particular case we tapped the Cup Holder LED strips to the 12V gearshift light indicator, but you can use any other 12V power source such as hand brake. Finally, put back everything in place and voila: Enjoy your new LED Cup Holder. Please note this is an universal fit product that could be used to light up inside the car such as cup holders, glove box, under dash foot area, trunk cargo or even using as instrument gauge cluster background lighting.
