CES Coverage – Self Parking Cars

Seems like before we get to fully autonomous cars, the milestone that technology will conquer before are cars that would be able to find their own parking space. As a driver, all you will need to do is pull up to a parking garage, get out of your vehicle, and leave it to find a parking spot by itself. When you need to retrieve your car, simply summon it back and it will already be waiting for you at a specially designated area in front of the parking garage. Those days of aimlessly circling around for a parking spot and having to fight tooth a nail with other irate shoppers for that one measly spot between two full size SUVs are coming to a close. Imagine never having to find a parking space again.

We will also see the current adaptive cruise control upgraded to another nifty feature that’s self-steering. The car will be able to take command during traffic, making it a relief for drivers who have to spend hours in stop-and-go traffic. This would minimize collisions and further cut down traffic phenomenally. Everyone has sat through the dread and complete boredom of some of the worst traffic, moving at a snail’s pace and watching the sky turn dark. All cars should have the capability of relieving the worst part of traffic and help eliminate accidents.
