2013 Las Vegas SEMA Coverage: More Products! – Part Four

With the last part of our coverage of the SEMA show and the cool things we saw there, we’ll wrap up with some more modifications that we saw on cars that we also offer on our website. We saw many cars with tinted head and tail lights, a direct fit LED fog light assembly on a Scion FR-S and some multi-color interior lights! While these cars probably did not get them from us, it’s still pretty cool to see these types of products being used and hopefully it’ll give you an idea of what to do on your car.

Vinyl tints are popular because they are easily installed and removed without any damage to the application. There are many colors to choose from, but the most common is the black dark tint which puts a darker shade on the application. If there are any issues with law enforcement or if you just don’t want the darker shade on anymore, you can easily peel it off and you can start off fresh again.

At this year’s SEMA event, there were quite a lot of Scion FR-S and Subaru BR-Z’s that made up a large percentage of the show vehicles inside and outside of the convention center. On this particular Scion FR-S, we saw an LED fog light assembly similar to what we carry lit up. Subtle upgrades such as this change the look of the vehicle quite dramatically.

Last, but not least we saw a car with multi-colored LED interior lights underneath the dash and on the side doors. These lights were automatically cycling through the colors so they were most likely in the “Demo” mode function. These easy to install lights connect directly to the car battery and are controlled at your finger tips with a radio remote control. Since LEDs draw such little power, there are no worries of the lights being in demo mode all day at the show and draining the battery.

That is it for our coverage of SEMA. It is very fortunate of us to live within a reasonable driving distance of such a big event that happens every year in Sin City. We get to see all the creative and head turning builds of the year gathered together in one building. In addition to that, there is huge aftermarket support from automotive retailers and car manufacturers at SEMA. If you ever have a chance to go to SEMA, make sure you take that chance as it will be a memorable experience.

2013 Las Vegas SEMA Auto Show Coverage

Every year, thousands of consumers, automotive industry retailers, and enthusiasts gather at the Las Vegas Convention Center for the SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) show. Companies from all over the world gather in Las Vegas for one memorable week which showcases the industry’s newest products, car builds, and more! We were not able to visit this year, but we’ve compiled a preview of what is at the show this year. The pictures in this coverage are sourced from various online sites such as Stancenation, Speedhunters, Autospies, Europeancarweb, and Mercurynews. SEMA draws all types of cars to the show; there are traditional muscle cars and hat rods, completely customized road vehicles, a modified FedEx delivery truck, full race cars, exotic cars and more so there is nearly an endless list of mechanical eye candy to stare at.

First, let us take a look at one of the most popular car of choice for builds this year; the Scion FR-S. Thanks to the large support from the aftermarket industry for this car, it is no doubt that this is a popular platform to build for enthusiasts. There are plenty of FR-S’s at the SEMA show this year.

Examples like the SpeedElement Scion FR-S from San Jose sporting the classic Rocket Bunny body kit, a unique duck bill rear lip and some aggressive MTechnica 2 piece wheels.

Aggressive wheels, body kit, and wing seem to be the trending style among the Scion FR-S and Subaru BR-Z crowd.

2013 Las Vegas SEMA Auto Show 3

The Rocket Bunny kit has been quite popular with the FR-S and BR-Z crowd and since they practically the same vehicle, you see the kit on both cars. This blue Vortech Supercharged Subaru BR-Z has on the Rocket Bunny version two kit which was just released not too long ago.

2013 Las Vegas SEMA Auto Show 4

It’s almost rare to see a FR-S or BR-Z without a Rocket Bunny kit these days so it’s a breath of fresh air to see something more different. Check out those fog light housings! We have some similar setups for the stock body vehicle as well.

However, I digress, the Rocket Bunny version two comes with LED daytime running lights arranged in a row which is quite unique. They go very well with the more aggressive styling of the newer kit.

Did we mention there are some pretty cool engine swaps as well at SEMA? The same FR-S above is rocking a single turbo 2JZ-GTE motor from a Toyota Supra instead of the traditional 4 cylinder 4U-GSE that came from the factory.

More 2JZ swaps? Sure why not; this time it’s on the newer 2014 Lexus IS350 Sport. The new Lexus IS models are also quite popular this year as well as the other newer models to hit showroom floors from all the manufacturers.

This VIP Auto Salon and Robert Evans collaboration of the 2014 Lexus IS350 F Sport is quite a looker, aggressive lines and a loud wheel color choice go very well together.

And of course, we have the not-so-aggressive builds such as this A’pexi Lexus IS. Subtle changes to the exterior go a long way.

There is also the new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray on display! The lines are more sharp and straight rather than contoured like the previous models, but it’s definitely not bad looking.

Since SEMA draws a whole variety of builds, it’s not surprising to see fully built race cars sitting at various vendor booths around the convention center. The Evasive Motorsports Scion FR-S is definitely no slouch and is competing in the Global Time Attack/Super Lap Battle event later this month at Buttonwillow Raceway in Southern California.

The aerodynamics on race cars may seem strange and ugly to some, but function over form is preferred by these race teams. The FX Motorsports Acura NSX is a great example of this and is also competing in the Global Time Attack/Super Lap Battle.

Other vehicles like this Nissan GT-R from R-Rydes is sporting a set of LED lights in the front bumper; these seem like daytime running lights to us.

This is just a small sample of all the vehicles and things you would see at the SEMA show in Las Vegas, NV this year. We recommend to check out the websites that these pictures are from for a full and more detailed coverage.

Stay tuned for part 2 of the coverage which should be uploaded tomorrow.

50W CREE P13W LED Bulbs for the Chevy Camaro Fog Lights

The P13W is a new style of bulb that is slowly becoming more and more popular among many car manufacturers. It was first introduced on the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro with factory HID headlights for the daytime running lights, but has slowly adapted itself to be the factory fog lights for the newer Toyota Highlander as well as the daytime running lights for the newer Mazda CX-5 with factory HID headlights. Whatever the application may be, we have an affordable solution to replace those lights with an LED bulb that is more efficient and stylish than the factory incandescent bulbs.

These P13W LED bulbs are powered by ten 5W high power CREE XP-E LED diodes per bulb; with eight on the side and two on the top accompanied with a 3x magnifying optical lens, they provide a 360 degree coverage of light while providing projection. The bulbs operate at 10W, but have a maximum capability of 50W; these bulbs do not constantly operate at 50W due to issues such as overheating that will occur. These lights are available in the 6000K Xenon White color only, but should match most factory and aftermarket 6000-8000K HID lights. The P13W CREE LED bulbs are plug and play with the compatible applications and requires no modification to install which makes it a perfect DIY item.

Lexus CT200H Interior LED Panel Lights Upgraded

Toyota is very experienced and has been getting their feet wet in LED technology world for quite some time now. Lexus, a subsidiary of Toyota has been integrating LED lights into their higher end models such as the GS350 and LS460. Strangely enough, the hybrid CT200H utilizes incandescent interior lighting; since it’s a hybrid vehicle it would make sense to save as much energy as possible using LED lights as it already utilizes LED headlights on the upper trim model. Fortunately, we have an LED replacement solution for the interior lights for this car.

This particular customer wanted a brighter and cleaner looking light for his Lexus CT200H LED interior front map lights because they had trouble finding things at night. Since we didn’t have a specific direct fit car interior LED package for this car like we have for others, we opted to use our 36-SMD LED panel instead which fit perfectly. Each panel contains 36-SMD 1210 type LED diodes and is available in either 6000K Xenon White or 20,000K Ultra Blue; we do recommend getting it in Xenon White for it to be really functional though.

As for the bulb size, each panel comes with a T10 adapter (fits 168,194, 2825, and more sized bulbs), festoon adapter (fits 31 to 42mm festoon bulbs), and a BA9 adapter (fits mini bayonet style bases) so it will fit all the common interior light bulb sizes as long as the housing can accommodate the panel. It also comes with 3M self-adhesive tape on the back so it can stick to the housing for an easy installation. This simple upgrade is perfect to create more CT200h LED interior light inside the car at night at reasonable price.

2006+ Honda Civic 9005 High Beam LED Daytime Running Lights

The daytime running lights are on whenever the vehicle is operating for the 2006+ Honda Civic so it’s a noticeable part of the car. The incandescent halogen bulbs that originally came with the car are very generic and do not give it any unique qualities to the car; our LED DRL replacement kit is aimed to provide an aesthetic and unique look. The 9005 high beam DRL kit comes with the LED bulbs, wiring harness, and resistors to prevent any error messages and flickering from occurring.

Honda Civic 9005 High Beam LED DRL 1

The high beam LED DRL Kit for the 2006+ Honda Civic uses 68-SMD LED Bulbs that are available in either 6000K Xenon White or 20,000k Ultra Blue; this customer opted for the 20,000K Ultra Blue which are considered for “off-road” use only due to the exotic color. The whole kit is plug and play so there is no need to re-wire or cut any factory harnesses; you will just need to secure the wires and position the resistors to a metal surface away from wires and plastic. While these lights are perfect for the daytime running lights, these would not be an ideal replacement for the high beams at night due to their low intensity; these are purely an aesthetic upgrade.
