BMW E92 335is LCI with CREE LED Backup Reverse Lights

On many European vehicles, the reverse or back up light housing is quite small and does not produce much light to begin with so it makes it very difficult for you to see or others to notice you while you back up your vehicle. Due to the smaller housing size, larger and brighter bulbs are not able to fit so we are left with minimal options to get a super bright light. This is where using high power CREE LED diodes come in handy; these lights provide a large amount of light output for their small size.

Each bulb for this E92 LCI LED backup lights utilizes five CREE R4 XP-E diodes to produce approximately 500 lumen. The top portion uses an optical lens projector to throw out light behind the vehicle as well to increase the effectiveness. Each bulb has a maximum operating output of 25W and is 100% error free so there are no annoying error messages or flickering issues. Thanks to these features, the lights are about five times brighter than stock and about two times brighter than the competitors LED bulb.

Installation is also quite easy as it is plug and play. No modifications are required for installation. The factory bulb uses a very unique mounting bracket to hold the bulb in place and our LED bulb replaces the whole entire assembly instead. Thanks to the careful design of the lights, they have no issues with fitment and can be easily removed if desired at any time. This unique type of bulb design is only used on the 2011 and up BMW E92/93 3-Series Coupe/Convertible for the reverse lights; make sure you check out our installation guide to see the proper way to install these E92 LCI LED Reverse Lights.

2013 Las Vegas SEMA Coverage: More Products! – Part Four

With the last part of our coverage of the SEMA show and the cool things we saw there, we’ll wrap up with some more modifications that we saw on cars that we also offer on our website. We saw many cars with tinted head and tail lights, a direct fit LED fog light assembly on a Scion FR-S and some multi-color interior lights! While these cars probably did not get them from us, it’s still pretty cool to see these types of products being used and hopefully it’ll give you an idea of what to do on your car.

Vinyl tints are popular because they are easily installed and removed without any damage to the application. There are many colors to choose from, but the most common is the black dark tint which puts a darker shade on the application. If there are any issues with law enforcement or if you just don’t want the darker shade on anymore, you can easily peel it off and you can start off fresh again.

At this year’s SEMA event, there were quite a lot of Scion FR-S and Subaru BR-Z’s that made up a large percentage of the show vehicles inside and outside of the convention center. On this particular Scion FR-S, we saw an LED fog light assembly similar to what we carry lit up. Subtle upgrades such as this change the look of the vehicle quite dramatically.

Last, but not least we saw a car with multi-colored LED interior lights underneath the dash and on the side doors. These lights were automatically cycling through the colors so they were most likely in the “Demo” mode function. These easy to install lights connect directly to the car battery and are controlled at your finger tips with a radio remote control. Since LEDs draw such little power, there are no worries of the lights being in demo mode all day at the show and draining the battery.

That is it for our coverage of SEMA. It is very fortunate of us to live within a reasonable driving distance of such a big event that happens every year in Sin City. We get to see all the creative and head turning builds of the year gathered together in one building. In addition to that, there is huge aftermarket support from automotive retailers and car manufacturers at SEMA. If you ever have a chance to go to SEMA, make sure you take that chance as it will be a memorable experience.

2013 Las Vegas SEMA Coverage: The LED Lights – Part Three

SEMA is not all about the car builds and new car releases, it’s also about consumer product demonstrations and new products for enthusiasts. We at iJDMTOY have a keen eye on lights and especially LED lights; we saw quite a bit of LED products on cars that we thought we’d share with everyone! We saw LED angel eyes on other cars besides BMW’s, LED work lights, and other similar lights we carry at our store; we’ll share these photos to give you an idea of what you can accomplish with similar lights that we carry.

2013 Las Vegas SEMA Auto Show by iJDMTOY 1

To start off, there are the angel eyes. There were a lot of LED angel eye lights on cars at SEMA that originally did not have them. It just goes to show you how cool these lights look on almost any vehicle out there. We are far from the old CCFL halo ring days of yesteryear and have now upgraded to brighter and better LED alternatives.

2013 Las Vegas SEMA Auto Show by iJDMTOY 2

Since not every headlight is the same size so there are multiple LED ring sizes available that can be purchased. For example, larger headlights like on this Chevrolet Camaro require rings that are much larger than say a Honda Civic would.

One more example would this BMW. But most BMWs already come with angel eyes though, right? Yes, while this is true, the factory angel eye design is poor and does not allow the entire ring to be lit up evenly in most cases. This owner decided to put actual LED rings on top of his existing halo rings to create a better look for his car.

We’ll step away from the passenger car style and jump right into the off-road scene for a bit to show the LED work lights we saw on many off-road car builds. While you’re out in the desert, mud, or harsh terrain, regular city lights may not be enough light for safety issues. This is where high-output LED work bars and lights come into play.

Since LED work lights consume such a low amount of electricity, but produce a high output they are ideal for off-road vehicles that have other accessories such as winches, radios, and other important electronic equipment.

While we passed by luxury car builds, we spotted a similar looking LED setup that we sell on this Lexus GS350 with a particularly aggressive front bumper. The LED lights are arranged in an “L-shaped” pattern that can be achieved with our very similar 10 piece Flexible LED DRL kit on our website. Many of these lights are custom type projects so it’s not a direct replacement of any kind.

2013 Las Vegas SEMA Coverage – Part Two

Let’s continue with part two of the SEMA show coverage this year.

Speaking of race cars, there is also this awesome Radical SR3 on display! This road legal race car that can be purchased (if you have deep pockets) and driven on the street as well. Check out those headlights; it seems to be some type of LED ring setup from what we can see.

2013 Las Vegas SEMA Auto Show 18

For our American muscle fans, we didn’t forget about you either; this Tire Rack sponsored Chevrolet Corvette seems like it would be a beast on the curved roads of a race track.

There is a countless amount of American muscle cars on display at SEMA and it would be difficult to compile all of them into one post so we’ll hand pick the ones that stand out like this custom full metal body 1968 Dodge Charger built by Scott Spock Racing and Nelson Racing Engines. If a twin turbo 9.4 Hemi V8 doesn’t get you excited, we don’t know what will.

2013 Las Vegas SEMA Auto Show 21

This 1932 Ford Roadster from Fuller Hot Rods is very unique; a custom all-wheel drive system powered by a 750 horsepower BOSS 429 big block motor. Custom work like this can’t be left unappreciated.

2013 Las Vegas SEMA Auto Show 22

More hot rod and rat rod style builds like this sitting outside the convention walls. I wonder how this thing is even driven at that ride height. Custom modified vehicles are common at SEMA and are used to display the workmanship of many automotive shops around the country.

How about a Chevrolet Van with a supercharged V8 motor placed in the cargo area? Sure, if it’s possible, then why not.

Or maybe you may want your packages delivered in a unique way with this slammed FedEx delivery truck.

This old rustic old school GMC truck is raw and unrefined, but it’s definitely a head turner.

2013 Las Vegas SEMA Auto Show 26

Modern lifted trucks like this matte black Ford Super-Duty dualie is on display outside with a variety of other lifted trucks. As we said earlier in the post, SEMA is filled with a variety of cars that appeal to all types of automotive enthusiasts so let’s move onto the exotics!

This Pagani Zonda Huayra is oozing with carbon fiber goodness and with a Mercedes-Benz AMG V12 Bi-turbo engine powering this thing, you may need a towel to wipe the drool off your face. Those Italians sure know how to build an exotic super car.

The Liberty Walk Ferrari 458 Italia makes us speechless at how amazing this car looks like.

Here we have what looks to be a modified Ferrari F430 on air suspension which allows it to achieve this extremely low vehicle height. SEMA is always about new products and trends that are floating and evolving in the automotive industry and we’ll give you a preview based on the pictures we saw.

LED tail lights seem to be a common replacement item for most Subaru BR-Z and Scion FR-S owners; an aesthetic and functional upgrade that looks and performs well.

2013 Las Vegas SEMA Auto Show Coverage

Every year, thousands of consumers, automotive industry retailers, and enthusiasts gather at the Las Vegas Convention Center for the SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) show. Companies from all over the world gather in Las Vegas for one memorable week which showcases the industry’s newest products, car builds, and more! We were not able to visit this year, but we’ve compiled a preview of what is at the show this year. The pictures in this coverage are sourced from various online sites such as Stancenation, Speedhunters, Autospies, Europeancarweb, and Mercurynews. SEMA draws all types of cars to the show; there are traditional muscle cars and hat rods, completely customized road vehicles, a modified FedEx delivery truck, full race cars, exotic cars and more so there is nearly an endless list of mechanical eye candy to stare at.

First, let us take a look at one of the most popular car of choice for builds this year; the Scion FR-S. Thanks to the large support from the aftermarket industry for this car, it is no doubt that this is a popular platform to build for enthusiasts. There are plenty of FR-S’s at the SEMA show this year.

2013 Las Vegas SEMA Auto Show 1

Examples like the SpeedElement Scion FR-S from San Jose sporting the classic Rocket Bunny body kit, a unique duck bill rear lip and some aggressive MTechnica 2 piece wheels.

2013 Las Vegas SEMA Auto Show 2

Aggressive wheels, body kit, and wing seem to be the trending style among the Scion FR-S and Subaru BR-Z crowd.

2013 Las Vegas SEMA Auto Show 3

The Rocket Bunny kit has been quite popular with the FR-S and BR-Z crowd and since they practically the same vehicle, you see the kit on both cars. This blue Vortech Supercharged Subaru BR-Z has on the Rocket Bunny version two kit which was just released not too long ago.

2013 Las Vegas SEMA Auto Show 4

It’s almost rare to see a FR-S or BR-Z without a Rocket Bunny kit these days so it’s a breath of fresh air to see something more different. Check out those fog light housings! We have some similar setups for the stock body vehicle as well.

2013 Las Vegas SEMA Auto Show 5

However, I digress, the Rocket Bunny version two comes with LED daytime running lights arranged in a row which is quite unique. They go very well with the more aggressive styling of the newer kit.

2013 Las Vegas SEMA Auto Show 6

Did we mention there are some pretty cool engine swaps as well at SEMA? The same FR-S above is rocking a single turbo 2JZ-GTE motor from a Toyota Supra instead of the traditional 4 cylinder 4U-GSE that came from the factory.

2013 Las Vegas SEMA Auto Show 7

2013 Las Vegas SEMA Auto Show 8

More 2JZ swaps? Sure why not; this time it’s on the newer 2014 Lexus IS350 Sport. The new Lexus IS models are also quite popular this year as well as the other newer models to hit showroom floors from all the manufacturers.

2013 Las Vegas SEMA Auto Show 9

This VIP Auto Salon and Robert Evans collaboration of the 2014 Lexus IS350 F Sport is quite a looker, aggressive lines and a loud wheel color choice go very well together.

2013 Las Vegas SEMA Auto Show 10

And of course, we have the not-so-aggressive builds such as this A’pexi Lexus IS. Subtle changes to the exterior go a long way.

2013 Las Vegas SEMA Auto Show 11

2013 Las Vegas SEMA Auto Show 12

There is also the new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray on display! The lines are more sharp and straight rather than contoured like the previous models, but it’s definitely not bad looking.

2013 Las Vegas SEMA Auto Show 13

2013 Las Vegas SEMA Auto Show 14

Since SEMA draws a whole variety of builds, it’s not surprising to see fully built race cars sitting at various vendor booths around the convention center. The Evasive Motorsports Scion FR-S is definitely no slouch and is competing in the Global Time Attack/Super Lap Battle event later this month at Buttonwillow Raceway in Southern California.

2013 Las Vegas SEMA Auto Show 15

The aerodynamics on race cars may seem strange and ugly to some, but function over form is preferred by these race teams. The FX Motorsports Acura NSX is a great example of this and is also competing in the Global Time Attack/Super Lap Battle.

2013 Las Vegas SEMA Auto Show 17

Other vehicles like this Nissan GT-R from R-Rydes is sporting a set of LED lights in the front bumper; these seem like daytime running lights to us.

This is just a small sample of all the vehicles and things you would see at the SEMA show in Las Vegas, NV this year. We recommend to check out the websites that these pictures are from for a full and more detailed coverage.

Stay tuned for part 2 of the coverage which should be uploaded tomorrow.
