18W OEM Style LED Fog Lights for the 2013 and up Scion FR-S

As part of our vastly growing Scion FR-S and Subaru BR-Z section on our website, our 18W LED Fog lights should be a part of any FR-S/BR-Z owner’s wish list. While some people may opt for our LED Daytime Running light kit that replaces the fog lights, some people prefer to retain the OEM look with these lights. These OEM style LED fog lights is a complete fog light replacement and is also plug and play with the factory fog light wires; because these are meant as a direct OEM replacement, there is no wiring harness included. Vehicles without factory equipped fog lights will have to wire these lights to a power source and obtain a bezel with a fog light cut out.

Each lamp uses six 3W LED diodes which are combined to create a total output of 18W per lamp, per side. These super bright LED fog lights are 6000K Xenon White so they are a perfect addition to our other LED replacement lights. Each lamp also has a 2-LED 7000K Angel Eye ring that can be optionally wired to your parking lights to mimic that BMW halo look. This is a perfect match with our LED angel eye set for the headlights for these cars.

The installation is very straight forward and it can be done within a few hours for the inexperienced and within an hour for an experienced DIY-er. We specifically designed these lights to match well with our other LED lights like the switchback bulbs so everything flows together well.

3rd LED Brake Light Conversion Kit DIY Done On Scion FR-S

A very common addition that many of the newer vehicles are attempting is the installation of a stylish third brake light. In this case, it’s a conversion of the red lens that came on the car from factory into a fully functioning running and brake light. Fortunately, for the Scion FR-S and Subaru BR-Z, the factory bumper comes with a red lens near the rear diffuser that covers an empty housing. Since these lights are utilizing the factory location, extensive modifications are not required. The kit includes a drill bit that is used to create a hole for the socket and LED bulb to fit in. Each kit includes a red 18-SMD 3-Emitter 5050 LED bulb that will produce a noticeable amount of light and comes with all the parts needed for installation; you just need to supply the electrical tape and tools.

The combination of the red lens and red LED bulb produces a glow that will match many aftermarket LED tail lights and the factory center brake light behind the rear window. The lights can be wired to act as just a Scion FR-S 3rd Brake Light, turning on only when the brakes are applied. Alternatively, the lights can also be wired to act as the running and brake lights as well; this will act like the outside tail lights at night. While these lights are marketed specifically towards the Scion FR-S and Subaru BR-Z, it can be also used on other vehicles with a similar light setup such as the 2009 and up Nissan 370z and more.

First Mod For Your Scion FR-S: LED Daytime Running Lights

The question that comes into mind for nearly all car enthusiasts when they purchase a new is, “What should I do first to my brand new car?!”. While there are so many choices out there for a first modification, a first modification for most car enthusiasts would be to create a unique look to set their car apart from the sea of other cars. Sure, you can change out an LED bulb here and there which will change the light (this is not a bad thing though!), but why stop there? As a first mod to the car, adding LED daytime running lights should be a top choice for all new Scion FR-S owners.

This LED daytime running light will substitute the existing fog light bezel and fog light itself (if your vehicle was equipped with it) with an exact fit replacement LED lamp. Since the debut of the Scion FR-S in the United States, it has been at the center of attention in the automotive industry. However, unlike its equivalent in Japan; known as the Toyota 86, it does not have an option to come with LED daytime running lights integrated into the headlights in a similar style as the newer Audi and Lexus vehicles do. This style of LED daytime running light has been becoming increasingly popular among car enthusiasts. Since replacing the entire headlight assembly is quite expensive and requires complicated wiring, we decided to provide an alternative solution to this dilemma.

This LED daytime running light replaces the fog light assembly area with an LED bar that looks like the vehicle came equipped from factory like this. Scion FR-S/Subaru BR-Z LED Third Brake Light Reflector Modification

With the debut of the Toyota FT86 (or Scion FR-S and Subaru BR-Z as it is known in the United States), it has attracted a large interest of car enthusiasts. For those familiar with this car, a noticeable feature is the red reflector on the bottom of the bumper next to the reverse lights which has no light inside. While the FT86 already has a third brake light over the trunk inside the cabin, it seems to make more sense (visually) to have the third brake light at where the red reflector is instead.

We decided to create a simple to install, “do-it-yourself” type product that takes 1-2 hours to complete (depending on your experience). This project takes the existing reflector/reverse light housing and puts a light inside it; it does require some modification to the housing and socket.

Within the next few weeks, we will have an LED install kit available for you guys which include the bulbs, wiring socket, drill bit, and all the major components for installation. This installation just requires basic tools and a 12v power drill for installation. Not only with these lights set you apart from the rest of the crowd, but will also enhance your vehicle’s visibility at night to increase safety. These lights can operate as a third brake light by itself or it can operate as both the running light and brake light.
